 Counselling / Psychotherapy

Counselling and Psychotherapy explore the impact of life experiences, emotional difficulties and relationships.... identifying  hurts, fears and triggers causing or perpetuating current problems.   Both explore what has happened or is happening in your life, how you experience situations, traumas and/or relationships.... and how to make sense of feelings, thoughts and behaviours which may have developed in response to some of the following:

Appointments may be short-term; between 1 - 6 sessions (Counselling), or last longer for in-depth support and analysis (Psychotherapy).... slowly reducing as you begin to feel stronger and more able to move forward independently.  The number of appointments you have however will always be open-ended.... and not restricted to a set number of sessions; placing you in control of what you want or need at all times.

Individuals

Our first meeting is an opportunity for you to tell me about yourself and how you feel at the moment, without any time constraints at all.  During your first appointment, I may ask about past experiences and relationships to gain a deeper insight into your story - and over time, will gradually support you to understand and manage thoughts, emotional difficulties and perspectives - as well as behaviour patterns, responses and relationship dynamics that have developed along the way.  Although you may feel worried or anxious about meeting me for the first time, please be assured these feelings are perfectly understandable and will gradually pass.

Couples & Mediation

Recognising when your relationship is in trouble is not always easy.  Individual and joint responsibilities along with the pressure of work and family commitments and lack of quality time often lead to tension, conflict and sometimes betrayal.  Over time, you may find yourselves drifting apart without really understanding why.... until being around one another becomes so strained, it leads to a complete breakdown in communication.... becoming increasingly difficult to see one another's perspective.

 

If spending time with your partner makes either of you feel unattractive, incapable and resentful, or if trust and communication are areas of conflict in either personal or family relationships, please get in touch.  

Personal Coaching

Every decision or choice is determined by how you think, feel and act.... and having a quality of life rests upon how these are understood and managed.  Personal Coaching is not a substitute for  Counselling and  Psychotherapy but can be successfully integrated with therapy over time.... to help bridge the gap between where you are now and where you would like to be.  In short, Personal Coaching raises awareness of who you are as a person.... and will help you become clear about what you would like to achieve. 

If you are struggling to stand up for yourself or make a significant life change, I can help you realise personal strengths, reinforce self-belief and work with you to develop a plan of action that facilitates the changes you would like to make.... with on-going encouragement, techniques and strategies to manage obstacles you may experience along the way.

Examples may include:  Stress Reduction; Confidence; Self-Worth and Self-Esteem; Motivation; Decision-Making; Career Direction and Development; Self-Care; Healthy and Loving Relationships; Parenting; Personal Achievement and/or, creating a Healthy Work/Life Balance.
